Nicola Upham

Nicola started her career in commercial recruitment in the UK and Australia where she was the General Manager of a consultancy specialising in placing finance and accounting professionals with a wide range of corporate clients. After 10 years in the industry Nicola wanted a new challenge which she found by studying an MA in International Relations at the University of New South Wales.
This prompted a major career change, seeing Nicola move to Cambodia to work in international development. Subsequently Nicola has developed extensive experience of working in Asia as a regional Human Resource Manager with CARE where she covered Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, Timor Leste, PNG and Vietnam. Nicola has also deployed with Save the Children to a variety of humanitarian crisis in South Sudan, DRC, Iraq, Cote d'Ivoire, Somaliland, Sierra Leone and the Horn of Africa.
Currently Nicola is head of Save the Children Australia's deployable humanitarian team. In addition to her MA Nicola has a Bachelors Degree in Human Geography and is a regular part of the faculty coaching team at Deakin University delivering the Humanitarian Leadership Programme. Nicola is from the UK, currently lives in Vietnam and is also a qualified private pilot!
