Charles brings over 30 years of experience across the corporate consulting and international development/humanitarian sector to the Non- Executive team. Currently the CEO of the Malaria Consortium and Charles was previously the International Programme Director for Merlin where he was responsible for the delivery, through 5000 staff and 16 country offices, of humanitarian health and nutrition focused programming.
Prior to joining the international development sector Charles’ experience has spanned across health systems, international business leadership and strategy consulting. As an independent consultant he was primarily supporting change in the National Health Service working extensively with governance and evidence organisations. As Global Head of Strategy and Markets' Development for Mercer's Health and Benefits' business, he worked with major corporations and Government agencies around the world launching and supporting emerging businesses. Charles also spent 7 years with McKinsey and Company working on major strategy and change projects in the health care and 'Not for Profit' sector. A scientist by training, he began his career with 14 years in logistics/operations with various technical and line management roles for, among others; L'Oreal, GlaxoSmithkline, Northern Foods and Nabisco, including manufacturing and distribution of medical and food products.
